Distance Learning Plan

Following in line with Gov. Edwards' mandate, we will remain closed until April 13. We will engage in distance learning soon.
Due to the ever-changing climate surrounding COVID-19, the school administration and Executive Committee, on behalf of the Board of Directors, have decided it is in the best interest of the Brighton community to postpone any further academic plans until Monday, March 30, 2020.

Despite best-laid plans, we have run into several obstacles that have caused us to make this decision.  Over the past two weeks, the administration has been preparing for an alternative educational plan.  Our responses to a rapidly changing landscape have always kept your children in mind – their academic growth, their sense of continuity and the need for consistency.  That’s who we are, and it is what we do.

There is another component of this community that requires care – our teachers.  This morning, when meeting with our teachers, we could see and feel the stress and worry they hold for your child and your family, but also for their own children and their immediate families.  It became clear that they, too, need the time to put their lives in order and to find a sense of calm during these uncertain times.  Their worries and concerns have been echoed by other Brighton families, who find themselves in similar situations.

The technology plan that we have adopted is sound and can be applied at any time once the human aspect has been worked through.  We will be sending you online educational opportunities that you can make available to your child that will help during this time of no structured academics.

We ask you to follow all CDC guidelines and take care of your families.  We are also asking you to report to the school any confirmed cases of COVID-19 of any of our students or their immediate family members.

The March DABGR Board of Directors meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17 has been canceled.  We will be in contact with any developments that could affect the educational process of our students.
Thank you for your patience and support during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Kenny Henderson, Executive Director/Principal
Janie Keller, DABGR President
