The Brighton School is an independent, nonprofit K-12 school dedicated to the teaching of bright and talented students with dyslexia and/or other related learning differences. The Brighton School is continually engaged in a pursuit of research, design and implementation of proven academic programs and individualized strategies for students who have dyslexia and/or other related learning differences.

At The Brighton School we believe that all students can be successful, productive adults.  Our school features two campuses to better meet the needs of these bright and talented students: The Partridge Campus, for grades K-6 and the Parkmeadow Campus for grades 7-12.

The Brighton School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Our Vision:

The Brighton School seeks to be the most authoritative and effective school in our region for the education of children with dyslexia and related learning differences.

Our Mission:

The Brighton School, K-12, assists students with dyslexia and related learning differences in achieving their full academic and personal potential. Through the pursuit and implementation of research-based instructional techniques, the school helps children grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Our History:

The Brighton School's sponsor organization, The Dyslexia Association of Greater Baton Rouge, was organized in 1972.  The first program offered was a weekly Saturday tutoring program.  One year later, this tutoring program grew, and a summer program was added.  The full time school program was formed in 1975 with the original name of the DePaul School.  When the school moved to its present location in 1982, it became Brighton Academy.  A second campus to accommodate high school students was eventually added into what has now grown to become The Brighton School, a SACS-accredited K-12 school.
