Katie joined the Brighton team in fall of 2022 and has been working with students with disabilities for over ten years. She has experience working with ages kindergarten through 12th grade. Her previous education jobs include teaching for 3 years as a middle school special education teacher, 4 years as the director of a special needs and foster care ministry, and 3 years as an early childhood educator. Katie met her husband in Baton Rouge in 2012. They moved to Missouri and then to Wisconsin before moving back to Baton Rouge in June of 2022 with their two daughters. Katie is so excited to be creating and teaching the Jump Start program here at Brighton as her passion has always been helping students build foundational life skills that they will need beyond high school.
We are a school that is dedicated to students who have dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. We believe that ALL students can learn. It’s a matter of how the instruction is given and the support that is available to push students to their potential.
