Elizabeth joined Brighton’s elementary team in 2018, teaching second and third grade for five years, and now serves as a Reading Therapist in our Academic Center. Prior to Brighton, Elizabeth taught second grade at Children’s Charter School in Baton Rouge for five years.  In her quest to meet the needs of all her students, Elizabeth has been trained in three Orton-Gillingham methods including Sequential English Education, The Association Method and Phonics First.  In addition, Elizabeth has received extensive teaching in embedding Montessori style practices in her classroom, as well as Marilyn Zecher’s Multisensory math.  Her goal for her class is to establish a culture of belonging, significance, and fun in her students as she works to develop their skills as growing readers.  Elizabeth strives to engage all students in active learning through her small group instruction and multi-sensory learning experiences.

We are a school that is dedicated to students who have dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. We believe that ALL students can learn. It’s a matter of how the instruction is given and the support that is available to push students to their potential.
