Shae Guidry

Reading Therapy Teacher
Associate in Business Management: River Parishes Community College

Shae's path to teaching started with her son's social and learning differences as a toddler. She learned along the way as she supported her son through speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and, eventually, ABA therapy after being diagnosed with autism at age 4. Seeing the importance of early intervention, Shae took several training courses in applied behavioral analysis and began teaching preschool. She accepted a position in the special education department with APSB, where she specialized in reading, received Barton training, and was introduced to the science of reading. This knowledge in reading education led to seeking additional help for her son, which resulted in a dyslexia diagnosis. In 2009,  Shae received her Associate in Business Management from River Parishes Community College. Currently, Shae is pursuing a Bachelor's  in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in
Education from Liberty University and will receive her CALP certification from ALTA in December. Shae and her son are thrilled to be a part of the Brighton family as she continues her education and finally thrives in his!
