Since 1996, Theresa has worked in the private and public education sector as a certified teacher. Twelve years in the classroom, Theresa was trained as an academic language therapist and study skills specialist. It was then that she began to work solely with dyslexic students. In January of 2019, Theresa obtained her certification as a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) through the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA). Because of Theresa’s extensive training, she is qualified to train teachers in four Orton-Gillingham reading therapy programs: Sequential English Education, the Association Method, Alphabetic Phonics, and Take Flight. In addition to her duties in admissions and testing, Theresa also oversees the implementation of all Brighton’s reading therapy programs. Her in-depth understanding of the Sequential English Education program has earned her iCALP designation. She can teach The Sequential English Education program to teachers working on a language practitioner certification. Theresa strives to live by the motto of Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
