Marilyn has a rich and diverse teaching history. With fourteen years of experience, three of them at Brighton with the school’s youngest students, Marilyn’s work lays the foundation for the learning ahead. At one time, Marilyn owned and operated a Montessori preschool in Wyoming. She has taught fifth grade and has served as the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Consultant for the Michigan State University Laboratory School. Building on her Montessori experience, Marilyn has spent extensive time learning about and planning learning opportunities utilizing Montessori practices with children at-risk for learning differences. In the Spring of 2019, Marilyn successfully gained certification as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP). She has also received training in the Association Method. As is the case with Marilyn, her love of learning continues as she continues coursework in order to become a Certified Academic Language Therapist. Marilyn believes in making the most of teachable moments.
